Captain Bruce's "Extreme Comfort Diving"
Your typical day with us begins with free transportation from your Waikiki area hotel at about 7:00am. We start much earlier packing gear bags, fixing the ice chest & preparing the seating & hosting charts so we're going directly on the freeway to our leeward coast boat without delay instead of dragging you through a dive shop. For guests wishing to drive out, we can send directions and of course we have different times & locations because we operate boats on both sides of Oahu. More information about our alternate dives & services is located in an e-mail entitled "Dives & Critters". Our basic prices are located at the bottom of this page. MOST EXPERIENCED FULL TIME INSTRUCTORS Our full time PADI professionals are more experienced than entry level instructors and have been diving and teaching SCUBA & marine life around the world for many years. We plan the dives with you, then closely guide and escort you on the dives for safety (and so we can point out where the critters live). If you are only "Open Water" certified, we offer a refresher briefing and train you to dive slightly deeper than 60 feet as though you were in an advanced class. Buddy teams with cameras or computers and more experience are given due consideration. We have three experience levels of charters available from our boat on both West Oahu. Advanced & Adventure training dives are also offered. We have the best selection of Lava Tubes, Sea Caves, Drift Dives, and WWII Wrecks and take the time to teach you about Hawaii's unique marine life and volcanic geology, but the four reasons we invite you all the way to the leeward coast on your first day are: (1) Hawaii's best shipwreck, an easy multilevel dive. The navy minesweeper "MAHI" is just 12 minutes from Waianae Harbor. Sunk years before the other ships close to town, it's easy 58 to 90 ft. depths offer the most marine life. (2) The "leeward coast" is the flattest, calmest, downwind side of the island. Hawaii lies in the tradewind zone, one of the windiest parts of the world. (3) The very BEST daily chance of seeing dolphins, jumping and frolicking up close with our boat as we cruise the coastline that all the serious dolphin watching boats visit. (4) Ancient lava formations: caves, caverns, arches & lava tubes, is the shallow reef we dive after the shipwreck at 15-40 feet deep. Easy to navigate without lights, excellent snorkeling, and the best habitat for turtles, fish and if we're lucky, a white tip reef shark or two. These areas are far more alive and interesting than all the shallow reefs on the east shore which are "Limestone Pavement". We own and operate our own boat on the west side of the island. We carry a maximum of 16 divers on our PRO-42 Jet Boat built for 28
diving passengers, hosted by 3-5 instructors in very small groups, separated by experience
level. We often have only a handful of guests on board. NO CROWDS! Of the thirty or so
dive companies on the island, only nine of us actually own or operate the boats we're
taking you on. The rest scramble daily for seats on wholesale boats packed with several
shops and therefore cut you very short on dive time. Even the many 6 passenger boats are
only "chartered" by shops describing them as "theirs" and limit you to
30 minutes on a shallow dive.
Introductory divers will have an unforgetable experience on our fantastic first time dives. "Introductory Divers", expect to see Coral, Turtles, and Eels, Oh My! Also ideal for training dives, and refresher dives, to build confidence & skills in order to enjoy the Shipwreck & Lava Tubes another day. PADI Discover Scuba Diving training methods ensure safe marine life encounters for first time adventurers. Morning 4-hour excursions allow for planning several other activities in the same day. ONLY Captain Bruce's "extreme comfort" boat has a HOT shower. We also serve sodas, sliced pineapple, cookies and finger sandwiches. We provide restrooms, wash barrels for your cameras, custom made dive ladders, and vans stocked with fish books. We have the biggest tanks (Dacor super 82's) for the longest dives and we're the only company that brings "100's" daily for those who need them so we don't have to take you or the "air hogs" back to the boat early. NITROX is available. I mention these features because many operators here have almost none of the above basics (ask them). Our guest to instructor
ratio averages 3 1/2 to 1 with a maximum of 6 certified divers per instructor,
providing the closest supervision ratio on the island. See the refresher dive information
below. Our balanced Sherwood regulators & BCD's are replaced annually. We pack dive gear & run credit cards early before your 7:30 hotel pickup, so we take you straight to the boat and back to the hotel for your maximum convenience. The nineteen Outrigger Hotels and four Sheraton Hotels know the difference in quality and have been sending their divers directly to us for years due to our uncompromising "Standards of Care". We're a small company with our own boat, three captains, five full time instructors, and a fleet of passenger vans, patterned after the concept of "The First Class Version of Diving in Hawaii" which Captain Bruce Besser developed over 19 years ago. As such, we earn our reputation every day with every customer. Please read the "thank you" letters in our web site's "Why Dive With Us" page. Our current staff is fun, exciting, great, nifty, keen, neato and have a certain joie de vive that you just dont find in people outside the sanitarium. (Hell, we just had our first kid when we were over 40!!!!!) Our rates for two dive charters: $100. (tanks & weights) and $110. (all gear provided). 15% DISCOUNT FOR THREE DAY PACKAGES (6 dives) for $269. (all gear provided). You can start by paying for the first day @ $100, then later, schedule the balance of two days for only $169 more (that even prorates 15% off the first day you already did). Schedule a day dive first for more comfortable ocean conditions, then try our popular sunset / night dives for a different experience. Daily pick up time at most hotels is 7:00am, returning to the hotel at 1-1:30. $75 "POST GRADUATE" CHARTER AFTER COMPLETING ANY CLASS WITH US Family & friends who are snorkeling, "Discover SCUBA Diving", or just dolphin & turtle watching will want to join us on our luxury west boat on the calm, leeward coast. Snorkeling is $45 ."Discover Scuba Diving" is $95 with the option of a second dive for another $20. We see humpback whales almost daily from December through March. PADI ADVANCED AND SPECIALTY CLASSES DAILY Advanced class is $325 including all dive gear. This can be scheduled in two or three days of boat diving. We offer most of PADI specialty courses.
